Apply for a place in a daycare, family daycare or open early childhood education four months before the desired start date. If you need daycare suddenly due to work or education, submit an application at least two weeks before your child needs the place. Digital services can be found at the bottom of the page. Daycare centers are open from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pikkukko daycare center offers 24-hour early childhood education as needed.
A monthly fee is charged for early childhood education. The amount of the fee depends on your family size, gross income and service needs.
The highest fee for municipal early childhood education and care is 311 euros per month (for the youngest child in the family) from 1 August 2024. The fee charged for the second child is a maximum of 40% of the fee for the youngest child, i.e. a maximum of 124 euros per month. The fee for subsequent children is 20% of the fee for the youngest child. The lowest early childhood education fee is 30 euros per month.
The amount of the fee in a private daycare center depends on the daycare center and the service voucher. If the private daycare fees exceed the service voucher, the family pays the rest.
Preschool education is free education that children receive in the year before compulsory education. Preschool education is provided 19 hours per week. In addition to preschool education, you can apply for paid supplementary early childhood education. Edlevo is a program used by early childhood education and care providers that can be used in a browser or as a phone application. Edlevo is a free application that can be downloaded from your phone's app store. The link to the Edlevo browser version can be found here. You log in to Edlevo using your bank identification. Customers of private daycare centers also report their income information on Edlevo. You can change the language in the app to English. Select the three lines in the top right.
